The Full Story
Hello, I’m Hanan - The Computer Science Teacher.
I’m a qualified teacher, senior leader, and SEND advocate with more than ten years of experience across primary, secondary, and post-16 education. My work brings together teaching, leadership, and advocacy, all rooted in one belief: every learner can succeed when teaching is clear, inclusive, and engaging.
Throughout my career, I’ve held roles such as Head of Computer Science, Head of Key Stage 4, and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). These positions have given me a deep understanding of how curriculum design, inclusion, and wellbeing work hand in hand. I’m also completing a Master’s in Education (Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education), building on my background as a PGCE-qualified Computer Science teacher and NPQSL graduate.
Over the years, I have:
-
Built a Computer Science department from scratch, designing curriculum, assessment systems, and training staff
-
Led safeguarding, inclusion, and multi-agency collaboration with social care, CAMHS, and SEND services
-
Supported schools with Ofsted preparation, improvement planning, and data-driven strategy
-
Improved attendance, reduced exclusions, and achieved 100% post-16 progression for students
-
Delivered GCSE, A-Level, BTEC, and iMedia qualifications with strong outcomes
-
Mentored teachers, PGCE trainees, and middle leaders to build confidence and impact
My teaching spans KS2 to post-16, from teaching English and Maths at primary level to advanced programming at A-Level. I specialise in making complex Computer Science topics simple, helping students master programming, algorithms, and problem-solving. I also support teachers to strengthen their subject knowledge and classroom practice, promoting confidence and consistency in Computer Science delivery.
In addition to my teaching and leadership work, I have hands-on experience in the IT industry. As an Office Manager and Project Lead, I oversaw the design, testing, and rollout of bespoke staff scheduling software, improving efficiency and client satisfaction. This technical background allows me to connect classroom learning to real-world computing applications.
Alongside my professional work, I’ve spent over a decade providing SEND advocacy and system navigation support for families. I’ve helped parents secure EHCPs, placements, and access to health and therapy services, developing a deep understanding of the challenges families face. This experience continues to shape my inclusive and empathetic approach to education.
Today, I work with students, teachers, and schools to raise standards and strengthen practice in Computer Science and inclusion. Through 1:1 tuition, mentoring, consultancy, and SEND advocacy, I aim to combine expertise, clarity, and care so that every learner and educator can thrive in an inclusive and digitally confident world.
